Source
Who holds the work, and how it came to be offered. A photograph of a place is not a source.
Provenance at Essence of Gaia is the sequence below. A work is described as verified only after each gate that applies to it is clear. The studies now on the site have not passed that sequence.

Who holds the work, and how it came to be offered. A photograph of a place is not a source.
The person or community with authority to offer it is identified. Authority is not assumed from origin.
Sacred, funerary, archaeological, and restricted knowledge stay out of the market. Permission is specific, not general.
Materials, hand, and condition are reviewed against the claim being made. A style is not a certificate.
Technique, materials, and what may be said about the maker are written only to the extent the record supports.
The basis for holding and selling the work is documented before it is described as available.
Movement across a border is confirmed for the destination. Eligibility is not guessed from the country of origin.
Each transfer that is known is kept. A gap is recorded as a gap.
The collector is asked to keep the work, its condition, and its context. Purchase is not a license to invent a story.
What the public may see remains after the work leaves the catalogue, unless law, culture, or privacy requires it to be withdrawn.
This is the shape of a record. It names no object, maker, or certificate.
